KORG TONEWORKS
G4 Rotary Speaker Simulator
Korg Toneworks G4 Rotary Speaker Simulator, circa 1995. a/c powered. True Doppler effect for guitar or keyboards. Faithfully replicate the sounds of the spinning rotor and horns in a Model 147 Leslie cabinet with variable overdrive, ala original Ibanez Tube Screamer circuit i.e. Stevie Ray Vaughan. All in one small, light floor unit with footswitch controls including effect bypass, gain, slow/fast and off, (which slows or ramp-down to a crawl before sitting still yet still delivering the funky distinctive tone). Hit the off button again and slowly reach the resumed speed setting. Color- coded lights tell you what's activated. Save function allows storage of favorite settings. Divided buttons allow for individual settings for acceleration or ramp-up of rotor, speed of horn, balance between the two plus mic placement settings including: distance (on mic/off mic) and spread (narrow or wide) as well as a Mono preset. Ultra cool drawings to graphically depict options. If that's not enough, The G4 actually can select and emulate the elusive characteristic tone or voice of the wooden Leslie cabinet. Input and output knobs for suitable level setting plus peak indicator and stereo ins and outs! This hard to find unit, let's you emulate the Leslie and overdrive effects of your favorite players such as SRV, Clapton, West, Harrison..etc. May it be live or in the studio, you would be hard pressed to tell the difference between the Korg G4 and the real deal.
Very cool. Real Leslie sounds from this small, well built, versatile floor unit. Nice graphics amid brown/black heavy-duty housing.
